Pink absolutely ruled the night this year, and one of the most memorable looks is Gemma Chan in the most incredible hot pink Valentino gown. Of course, it was already burned in my brain from when Laura Brown snapped and shared it on her instagram just a few short weeks ago from Paris Fashion week…
Sarah Paulson stood out in a different shade of pink, in the midriff baring, jewel encrusted gown by Brandon Maxwell.
And if we are talking pink, how can we not mention Jason Momoa and his velvet pink tuxedo, custom designed by the late, great Karl Lagerfeld
A final pink look that may be a hit or miss, based on your preference…
To quote the infamous Nigel – “Give me a full ballerina skirt and a hint of saloon and I’m on board.” Her choice of accessories hinting at another major color / trend featured on the red carpet – silver. I mean really, there was a lot of sparkle and shine this year.
If Kacey Musgraves’s look was any indication – I do love extreme looks, and the shine on this is certainly intense, but in the style of Tom Ford – it comes in the form of a sleek but classic silhouette.
A more subdued metallic is this Miu Miu number, which channels the 1920s flapper.
I have to mention the beaded gown that Domee Shi, winner of Best Animated Short Oscar wore.
The silhouette isn’t anything earth shattering, but I’m weak for all things celestial – and the sparkling beading and embroidery on this dress is just stunning.
Speaking of sparkle and shine….
Lady Gaga’s gown didn’t exactly sparkle, but can we talk about that 128 carat Tiffany Canary Yellow Diamond necklace she wore?
Apparently, it was previously worn by Audrey Hepburn in the press photos for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and will set you back *at least* a cool $30M.
Last, but certainly not least…
Billy Porter – you are fabulous!
